Cuba Participates in Berlin Meeting on Energy Transition
20 de marzo de 2017, 16:30Berlin, March 20 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Minister of Energy and Mines Alfredo Lopez participated in the Berlin Dialogue debates on the 2017 Energy Transition, which started today in Berlin with the G-20 German presidency.
In a panel on the energy transition in Latin America held in the afternoon session, Alfredo Lopez set out Cuban insights and strategies in this field, as well as its priority to renewable energy sources.
As stated by the Cuban diplomatic sources, Lopez also met with Andreas Schell, Rolls Royce Power Systems senior executive officer, MTU Friedrichshafen head office, which has a significant presence in the Caribbean nation.
According to the source, the dialogue was favorable for agreeing some steps for the collaboration progress between both parties.
Government officials, businessmen and international experts, as well as officials of the International Energy Agency and the International Agency for Renewable Energy, attended the Energy Transition Dialogue, which was held at the venue of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This forum assessed the international cooperation strategies to reduce the impact of the energy sector on global warming, as it is responsible for three quarters of greenhouse gas emissions.
