UN Delegation Visits DPRK to Discuss Issues of Mutual Interest

Feltman's visit to Democratic Korea, the first of its kind since 2011, coincides with the worsening of the crisis on the Korean peninsula after the last test launch of a North Korean ballistic missile, and the joint air maneuvers between the United States and South Korea, the latter without precedents in history.
This military deployment in the region is part of the pressure from Washington and its allies Seoul and Tokyo for the DPRK to abandon its self-defensive nuclear program, but Pyongyang reiterates that it will use the means at its disposal to defend its sovereignty from any threat.
