Mexico Ready to Receive Thousands of Deportees from US
11 de enero de 2017, 11:46Mexico, Jan 11 (Prensa Latina) The Mexican government has capacity today to take back up to 600,000 illegal migrants who can be deported from the United States, according to the Secretariat of the Interior (SEGOB).
This was expressed by Humberto Roque Villanueva, SEGOB Undersecretary for Population, Migration and Religious Affairs, who indicated that there are some programs to offer employment to Mexicans who can return to the country after Donald Trump takes office.
Roque stressed that there is a current agreement with Washington so repatriations take place by 11 land and one air points, and expressed hope that this agreement does not change with Trump's arrival at the White House.
'If it were not so, the deportation of Mexicans would become chaotic. If it is used - as it was used in the past- to put them alongside the border line and to leave them literally sometimes even in the desert, a situation like that will be a real tragedy,' he warned.
