Nairobi, Jan 16 (Prensa Latina) The Kenyan athletes showed themselves favorable to the new antidoping measures Monday, once they were put into practice by the Kenyan National Athletics Federation.
'I am happy for this new initiative. This shows that the National Federation wants to take care of the doping problem for real,' stated OLympic marathon Champion in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, Eliud Kipchoge, who participated together with another 100 athletes in a meeting organized by the Kenyan Sports Minister, to present the new program.
The new program consists in a medical service restored by the National Athletics Federation in collaboration with the International Federation of Athletics (IAAF), to put an end to the 'bad medical practices' that have been striking the image of the country for several years.
'From now on, it will be easier for us to communicate with a doctor if there is a need,' said gold medal winner in Rio Jemima Simgong, first Kenyan woman in gaining the summer marathon.
The athletes will be able to preserve their personal doctors, but the final decision in the consumption of medicines, will correspond to the new created organism.
The Kenyans' participation in international competitions will be determined to their participation in this program, which will begin tomorrow and will be supervised by the newly created Kenyan Agency Antidoping.
