The meeting was headed by President Miguel Diaz-Canel and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, Granma daily reported.
According to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Planning Alejandro Gil, the economic plan for the period was fulfilled in terms of cigar, nickel, lobster and honey exports.
The deputy prime minister said that the objectives planned in the implementation of the Economic and Social Strategy are being met, including the recent decision of allowing non-state forms of management to export and import goods.
Gil described the generation of 93,584 new jobs until late March as positive for the country.
The minister of Economy and Planning highlighted, among the most complex aspects of the first quarter, the fuel deficit and the insufficient level of supplies for the population, mainly food.
The economic shortages we are facing, he said, cannot be overcome overnight, especially because we have not been able to recover tourism, in addition to the effects of the tightening of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States.
