Argentinian government will launch new market prices program

Buenos Aires, June 8 (Prensa latina) Argentinian government will launch today a new program setting the price of 70 products in supermarkets, this is one of the many iniciatives to protect families´basic goods and face inflation.

¨UpClose¨ is the name of this new proposal to be presented officially today by Minister for Productive Development Matías Kulfas and the Secretary for Domestic Trade Paula Español, and will include fixing the prices for six months and printing it on the packages.

According to several media, like Télam and Ambito Financiero, in this first stage 70 products will be concerned and sold in near by markets after an agreement with 24 enterprises in this area.

In order to lessen the impact of inflation, main companies in mass consumption sector have come up to the ministry of Productive Development with over a hundred different items that will be part of basic commodities to be fixed for six months.

Items expected to be on the list and considered basic would be noodles, rice, water, drinks, yogurt and cream cheese.

This program, that according to the Executive, would account for 35 percent of average consumption of families, is added to other measures being passed as well as the known ´Protected Prices´ that by january this year were increased to 660 items.
