French groups call for new mobilization against blockade against Cuba

Paris, Jun 16 (Prensa Latina) French associations in solidarity with Cuba on Wednesday called to hold a new mobilization in Paris on June 23, to demand the lifting of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against the Caribbean nation.

The mobilization will be at Place President Edouard Herriot, in the vicinity of the National Assembly building, an institution where that day, the France-Cuba Friendship Group of the lower house will hold a press briefing to ratify its rejection to the siege, regarding the vote at the United Nations for a resolution on the necessity to end the blockade.

On June 23, the UN General Assembly will submit a draft resolution against the hostile policy imposed by the United States for more than 60 years, an initiative similar to that approved by that forum for 28 years since 1992.

Organizations supporting Cuba, unions, political forces, and Cuban and Latin American residents in France participated on Saturday, June 12, at a rally against the US blockade in front of the emblematic Eiffel Tower.

The Cuba Si France association described the siege applied against the Caribbean nation as an unacceptable attack to the human rights and denounced the suffering of the Cuban people ‘martyred by the empire for 60 years.’

Speaking to Prensa Latina, French Congressman François-Michel Lambert confirmed the meeting with journalists on June 23 and announced that he will submit a resolution in Parliament to urge the French Government to demand the end of the blockade.
