Cuba seeks to recover downward trend in Covid-19 cases

Havana, Sep 6 (Prensa Latina) Following an increase in Covid-19 cases in Cuba in the last two days, health authorities are seeking to recover the downward trend reached last week.

The Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) reiterated the call to maintain hygiene-sanitary and self-care standards, which include the correct use of the mask, physical distancing and frequent hand washing.

The heads of the MINSAP and the country’s leadership insist on the idea of better managing hospital discharges, insofar as that is the guarantee of having room for efficiency in the Health system.

The Ministry reported 9,221 new SARS-CoV-2 infections on Sunday, and 86 deaths as a result of the complications derived from the disease.

This situation caused active cases to skyrocket in the national territory up to 37,013, of which 36,592 are clinically stable.

Meanwhile, 421 patients are being treated in intensive care, 282 are in serious condition and 139 are in critical condition.

MINSAP specified that 5,703 people have died due to Covid-19 since the first days of the epidemic, for a lethality of 0.83 percent.
