Cuba advocates a relationship of respect with the U.S.

Pastors-for-Peace--Díaz-Canel
Havana, Nov 23 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel today reiterated his country's willingness to build a respectful and civilized relationship with the United States.

Commenting on Twitter on a meeting held the day before in this capital with the U.S. interfaith organization Pastors for Peace, the president said that neither the blockade, interference or misinformation will stop Cuba’s efforts to achieve that purpose.

In his message, Díaz-Canel described the members of that group as ambassadors of solidarity and friendship.

On Monday, in a meeting with more than 70 members of the 31st edition of these caravans, the president said that Cuba is ready “for a civilized coexistence, in conditions of equality, respect for sovereignty, independence and without interference in internal affairs”.

He also stressed that the White House is increasingly tightening the blockade against Cuba, in order to suffocate the economy of the nation and provoke a social explosion, an action that he described as “very evil” on the part of one government, despite having ideological differences with another.

The activists from 21 states of the northern nation arrived in Cuba last November 26 to reiterate their rejection of the attempts of internal subversion promoted from U.S. territory and the economic, commercial and financial blockade against the island.

They are carrying out an intense agenda in the territories of Havana and Matanzas (west), with meetings in women’s and workers’ organizations, and tours of educational institutions and centers of historical, social and scientific interest.
