At a press briefing, National Police Chief Damrongsak Kittipraphat called for cooperation from activist groups that are planning demonstrations during the Bangkok meeting to prevent chaos.
They have the right to express their opinions, but that should be done in accordance with the law. This is an international conference, so I would like to ask everyone to help prevent chaos. If any disorder occurs, the police will strictly enforce the law, the official warned.
Damrongsak stated that police security preparations are 100 percent ready, adding that all personnel involved were already stationed and prepared for operations.
The police chief stressed that protest organizers are required by the Public Assemblies Act to seek permission from the police before holding demonstrations, adding that such applications would be considered on a case-by-case basis.
