United Nations Peacekeepers clear minefields in Lebanon

Beirut, May 11 (Prensa Latina) Almost 13 million square meters of land are today free of explosive devices in Lebanon, as part of the demining process promoted here by the United Nations Interim Force. (Unifil).

Through its Twitter account, the international command highlighted the continuous stage of land clearance so that their owners can cultivate and use them again.

To date, Unifil brigades cleared cluster bombs, anti-personnel mines and other unexploded munitions on Lebanese soil, as a result of the war against Israel.

Despite these results, the peacekeepers warned about the threat of landmines and other unexploded devices and reiterated the unceasing search for remnants of armed conflict.

Since 2006, Unifil has systematically cleared minefields along the Blue Line to allow access and the maintenance of blue barrel markers.
