“Representatives of 27 social organizations integrated to this solidarity structure will participate this Saturday in the forum that will be held in the auditorium of the Andrés Bello Agreement, located in the central La Paz neighborhood of Sopocachi”, the president of this movement in La Paz, Dr. Alidson Gómez, said in declarations to Prensa Latina.
Gómez told this news agency that, commemorating the 64th anniversary of the first major US military defeat in Latin America, they named the meeting the “X Ordinary Congress Girón Victory of the People.”
“Under the slogan ‘Tear down the blockade’,” she announced, “the meeting will also reiterate our commitment of solidarity with the Revolution, and will demand that Cuba be excluded from the arbitrary list unilaterally drawn up of countries allegedly sponsoring terrorism.
According to the doctor, a graduate from the Latin American School of Medicine in Havana, the meeting will also demand the return of the naval base illegally occupied by U.S. troops in the Cuban territory of Guantanamo, in the southeastern part of the island.
“Likewise, we will clearly state that Cuba and its people are a reference of world solidarity,” she said.
