French children’s orchestral project to build bridges with Cuba

Paris, May 10 (Prensa Latina) The Little Symphonic Hands association

which welcomes talented French children and teanagers, is planning a cultural exchange with Cuba to bring both peoples closer through music, its director, Éric du Faÿ, said today.

Speaking to Prensa Latina in Havana, the artist and orchestra director said that the purpose of the initiative is for the project to travel to the island for performances and for Cuban children to come to perform on French soil.

We cannot yet talk about a date, because we must coordinate several issues, but it is certain that it will be in less than two years, he said.

Little Symphonic Hands starred the day before in an unforgettable evening at the Cuban Embassy in France, where they delighted the audience with classical and jazz themes.

In the first part of the show, an orchestra presented its repertoire of symphonies, while in the second part a great jazz band shared with its own stamp works that have sounded for decades and enamored generations of any continent, such as Autumn leaves, Summertime and Over the Rainbow.

The surprises were left for the end, with a beautiful presentation by the bands of Cuba’s national anthem, and a grand finale with Mambo number 8 by Dámaso Pérez Prado.

I know the extraordinary musical level of the island, that’s why we are very motivated by this project, said du Faÿ, who considered himself an admirer of cuba, although he has not yet been able to visit it.
