Work on one of them—located in the Kangdong district, on the outskirts of the coutry’s capital—was inaugurated in February this year by the General Secretary of the Workers’ Party, Kim Jong Un.
The other two hospitals are located in the southeastern cities of Nampho and Kusong, North Pyongan province, respectively.
Meanwhile, the doctors and other personnel who will work in those hospitals are being trained in the capital’s health institutions to be able to apply the most advanced diagnostic and treatment methods.
The construction of these and other projects is part of the economic and social development program called Policy 20×10, which basically consists of putting the standard of living in suburban and rural areas on the same level with that of large cities. The modernization of the national health system is one of the key goals set by of the North Korea´s labour party.
