During the 3rd ministerial meeting chaired by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, participants exchanged views on issues of common interest and reached consensus on collaboration and development.
The 11 island countries and China highlighted the progress made in bilateral relations, while reaffirming their commitment to a strategic partnership based on mutual respect and sustainable development.
The Chinese government reiterated the principles established by President Xi Jinping to govern relations with the region: full respect for the sovereignty, independence, political will, cultural traditions, and unity of the island countries.
China underscored that the support does not include political conditions or empty promises.
Both sides reaffirmed their collective loyalty to the universal values of peace, development, justice, democracy, freedom, and respect for international law.
Additionally, the Pacific island countries expressed their engagementt to the global initiatives promoted by Beijing in the areas of development, security, and civilization.
