The head of Strategic Relations at the National Identification Program Office, Abenezer Feleke, explained that the ongoing effort seeks to expand the use of the tool among service providers in the country and make it accessible to all regional states.
Feleke confirmed the establishment of more than a thousand registration points in the national territory, with the state-owned telecommunications company Ethio Telecom and the regional revenue offices to facilitate the procedures.
He also reported on preparations underway to install registration machines in banks to further expand access to digital identification services.
He added that, although the integration with 55 institutions has been completed, they are still working to link the system with other government and private service providers.
Towards the population, they are implementing awareness campaigns to encourage greater citizen participation and to get 90 million people registered.
