Organized by the Cuban Book Institute (ICL), the event, which gathers readers every Saturday on Calle de Madera, next to the Plaza de Armas (Arms Square) in Old Havana, will take place at 11:00 hours (local time).
The call states that Jose Marti and Fernando Ortiz, key figures of Cuban culture, shared principles despite being separated for several decades. Both fought against the idleness, cultural colonialism, and racism of their time.
The ICL press release noted that Marti, as a poet, and Ortiz, as an anthropologist, represent the intersection between poetry and science in their quest to understand and elevate the Cuban national identity, opening paths for critical reflection on the culture and society of their time.
