Malaysian leader urges decisive action against violence in Gaza

Singapore, May 31 (Prensa Latina) Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today urged decisive action against violence in the Gaza Strip.

During his speech at the Shangri-La Dialogue, the leader said: “Gaza is a test of our conscience, and the inability of international institutions requires more than just condemning genocide.”

Anwar Ibrahim emphasized that the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is not immune to the effects of technological change, economic uncertainty, the tide of globalization, trade turbulence, and geopolitical tensions.

In his speech at the annual intergovernmental security conference in Singapore, he pointed out that ASEAN defends its position through close cooperation, mutual resilience, and the constant exercise of the right to self-determination.

At the same time, he reaffirmed ASEAN’s commitment to an open, transparent, and rules-based trading system, not because it is easy, but because it is necessary for the region’s survival.

He also insisted on the need to maintain strong and dynamic relations with China and to expand cooperation with countries in Asia, Europe, and the Global South.

In his words, he stressed that stability on the continent is a key pillar and must be built on a solid foundation, clear policies, and a long-term vision to ensure lasting peace.
