Through the Diario de CentroAmérica, the current national administration disclosed Agreement 92-2025 in which it details the amounts that teachers will begin to receive, something that – according to the ministry – was structured to be maintained in the coming years.
In addition to the five percent salary increase for teaching staff, there is a fixed increase of 400 quetzales per month (US$52) for administrative staff and one of 500 quetzales (US$65) in the one-time bonuses for June and December.
President Bernardo Arévalo emphasized last Friday the signing of the salary increase and denied that they could “continue to delay it because of the intransigence of the leadership of the Guatemalan Education Workers Union (STEG)”.
This is just one more step to recover public education and improve the educational system, remarked the president through his profile in the social network X.
In an attached recording, in which he is accompanied by the Minister of Education, Anabella Giracca, the head of state referred to the pressure measures taken, which lead to irregular activities and closures of schools in different parts of the country.
