During the meeting with Gao, who is also the director of the State General Administration of Sports in China, Diaz-Canel reaffirmed the willingness to carry out joint trainings for international events, exchange methodologies, scientific advances, innovation, and the preparation of coaches and athletes.
The head of State also underscored that the visit, which started on Saturday, takes place in line with the consensus with Xi Jinping, President and General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC), “which has led us to build a society of shared future,” the Presidency informed.
The Cuban president commented, “We have multiple visits from our Chinese friends in different fields and areas of economic and social life, but we were missing a good visit from sports, and we believe that this one complements that desire.”
Gao, in turn, thanked the reception and highlighted the warm welcome of the host sports authorities, which he referred to as a sign of the special relations between the two countries.
Osvaldo Vento, president of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education, and Recreation (INDER), and Roberto Leon Richards, president of the Cuban Olympic Committee (COC), among other senior sports officials, attended the meeting, held on Monday.
