Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian made the remarks and criticized the statements issued by the quartet during a meeting within the framework of the Shangri-La Dialogue, in which they expressed concern about China’s presence in the South China Sea.
The spokesperson pointed out that the United States, along with the three said countries, has intensified its accusations against China by presenting this nation as a regional threat.
Lin Jian noted that such claims are groundless and seek to inflame tensions among Asian countries.
The Chinese spokesperson described these actions as part of a Cold War policy of blocs and confrontation, contrary to the spirit of cooperation prevailing in the region.
