El-Sisi and Costa held a telephone conversation on the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip and regional tensions, a statement from the Egyptian presidency said.
According to the text, they emphasized the importance of intensifying efforts to reach the two-state solution.
El-Sisi highlighted Cairo’s actions to agree on a new ceasefire in Gaza between Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), to allow a prisoner swap, and the unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid.
Both sides stressed the importance of an international conference to be held at the United Nations headquarters in late June to address the Palestinian issue.
They also expressed their rejection of attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause or displace the Gazans.
