Cuba describes as racist the ban on entry to the U.S.

Havana, Jun 5 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez denounced today that the new ban on entry to the United States of nationals from several countries has racist background.

Through the social network X, the top representative of the island’s diplomacy pointed out that the measure, applied with the support of anti-Cuban politicians, harms the contact between this nation’s families, and damages personal, professional, academic and cultural exchanges between both countries.

President Donald Trump signed a proclamation yesterday to ban and restrict travel from several countries to the United States, citing alleged security risks.

The Proclamation fully restricts and limits entry from 12 countries – Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.

While it “restricts and partially limits” the entry of citizens from seven nations that, according to the directive, “also represent a high level of risk to the United States” and in that case includes Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela.

Regarding this Antillean nation, President Trump repeated the false and arbitrary arguments that the island is a state sponsor of terrorism and that “the Cuban government does not cooperate or share sufficient political information with the United States.”
