The move follows the entry into force of Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 on the Management of Electronic Systems in Child Protection.
Josua Sitompul, head of the legal and cooperation team of the ministry’s General Directorate of Digital Space Supervision, stressed that the regulation protects children by considering their interests in all responsibilities and prohibitions.
“The current context of interactions in cyberspace is hyper-connected, therefore, we need rules and laws similar to those in physical space. That’s why this regulation was issued,” he said.
At the CIPS DigiWeek 2025 event, the special advisor to the Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Aida Rezalina, highlighted the importance of informing about this regulation, mainly among communities, parents and teachers.
The regulation promotes that parents guide and supervise their children’s digital activities, establishing limits according to their development.
Rezalina pointed out that the joint decree will be published in July 2025, once the coordination processes between the ministries involved are finalized.
