The FSB note stresses that the man worked for the Ukrainian special services, and sent information about the Russian Army and the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The statement adds that the Lugansk FSB office stopped the criminal activity of a Ukrainian citizen who gathered information of a military nature in the interests of Ukraine’s Security Council.
It was possible to prove that the man was transferring to the Ukrainian special services information about the locations of troops of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and units of the Russian Army, the news says.
“The individual was detained, a criminal case was opened on indications of the crime which is criminalized as espionage under Article 276 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation,” the local FSB office added.
In a video the entity showed to the press, the detainee does not deny that he was helping the Ukrainian Army, but claims that he was forced to do so and denies having received any remuneration.
