A Vatican News website reports that in the film, by journalists Salvatore Cernuzio, Felipe Herrera-Espaliat, and Jaime Vizcaino Haro, “a journey through Chiclayo, Chulucanas, Callao, Lima, and Trujillo is made to discover the figure of the Augustinian Pope.”
It collects testimonies of those who knew Pope Leo XIV in those years, as missionary, parish priest, teacher, educator, and bishop, collaborated with him, or received his help as a pastor.
Robert Francis Prevost was born on September 14, 1955, in Chicago, United States. After completing studies in Theology in that US city, and Canon Law in Rome, he was sent to Peru in 1985, while preparing his doctoral thesis, to work in the Augustinian mission in Chulucanas, department of Piura.
The documentary film includes the accounts of several direct witnesses of the pastoral work of the missionary and later Bishop Prevost, who in Peru was called simply Roberto, and was always close to the most humble, adds the source.
