Nicaragua to export live cattle to Mexico

Managua, June 9 (Prensa Latina) The director general of Nicaragua's IPSA (National Institute for Agricultural Protection and Health), Ricardo Somarriba, reported on the shipment of a ship with 7,000 live cattle to Mexico, which will boost the country's current livestock economy.

In statements to the Informe Pastrán newsletter, the head of the Institute for Agricultural Protection and Health (IPSA) indicated that this agreement with the Mexican nation will be signed on June 22 and establishes a steady line of exports.

He emphasized that the process complies with rigorous health protocols required by Mexico, which are facilitated by the shared health status between the two countries.

Furthermore, the official announced that Nicaragua renewed its international health status for the seventh consecutive year, a recognition granted by the World Organization for Animal Health (WHO).

According to Somarriba, this achievement consolidates the Central American nation as a benchmark in animal health in Latin America, guaranteeing the quality of its products for export.

He added that Nicaragua maintains its disease-free status from bovine spongiform encephalopathy, known as “mad cow disease,” which is present in countries like Colombia, Brazil, and some Asian nations.
