Cambodia and Cuba ratify will of strengthening solidarity ties

Phnom Penh, June 10 (Prensa Latina) The president of the National Assembly (Parliament) of Cambodia, Khuon Sudary, highlighted the strength of the solidarity ties that unite her country and Cuba in commendable and lasting relationship.

Upon receiving the Cuban ambassador to the Kingdom, Milena Zaldivar, the head of the Cambodian legislature also expressed her confidence in the growth of the solid ties of friendship with the island, despite the geographical distance and the changing global circumstances of today’s world.

Sudary also reaffirmed the desire of deepening talks at legislative institutional level and, in this regard, praised the Cambodia-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group for actively boosting parliamentary ties and links between the two nations.

She also stood out the complementary roles of state diplomacy, parliamentary diplomacy, political party diplomacy, and public diplomacy in promoting the partnership between the two countries. Cuba is not alone, she emphasized.

At the fraternal meeting, Zaldivar delivered a message to Sudary from his counterpart Esteban Lazo, who highlighted “the close historical ties between the two countries, the excellent exchange of ideas and cooperation in the multilateral arena, and the numerous expressions of solidarity that have made bilateral ties an excellent friendship for more than six decades.”

The letter also expressed gratitude for the Cambodian government’s unwavering stance of rejecting the unjust and illegal economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States, as well as its strong support for the international demand to remove Cuba from the arbitrary list of alleged state sponsors of terrorism.

Both parties also agreed on the importance of maintaining the momentum of high-level exchanges, renewed their commitment to fulfilling the consensus reached and remembered the historic visit to Cuba in 2022 of then-Prime Minister Hun Sen, marked as a significant milestone in bilateral relations.
