Jordan calls for immediate talks resumption amid regional escalation

Amman, June 23 (Prensa Latina) Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Safadi, demanded an immediate end to the war against Iran and the resumption of diplomatic talks on the Iranian nuclear issue.

According to the official Petra news agency, this position was expressed by the Foreign Minister during telephone conversations with his counterparts from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Egypt, Norway, and Hungary, in which they discussed the dangerous escalation in the region, particularly following the US attack on Iranian nuclear facilities.

The Jordanian Foreign Minister urged a resumption of negotiations, considering them the only viable way to prevent the region from descending into further conflict and war.

He also called for effective regional and international action to prevent further deterioration and urged an end to wars and the adoption of decisive political approaches to reach a political settlement on the Iranian nuclear issue.

During the talks, Safadi reiterated Amman’s firm rejection of any violation of international law, the United Nations Charter, or the sovereignty of states.

Furthermore, the Hashemite Kingdom’s foreign minister called on the international community to prioritize the cessation of the aggression against Gaza, the lifting of the inhumane blockade, and an end to illegal Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank that threaten the viability of the two-state solution and the prospects for a just and lasting peace.
