This entity, the result of collaboration with the European Union on drug policies, reaffirms zero tolerance for this scourge, further supported by educational practices, social inclusion, grassroots participation, treatment, and rehabilitation.
According to the Minister of Justice, Oscar Manuel Silvera, among the Observatory’s main functions is the “correct spread and transparency of periodic reports and bulletins accessible to the public, which allows us to analyze the effectiveness and impact of prevention programs.”
For her part, European Union on drug policies expert, Graciela Ahumado, stated that “the institution will serve as a platform for collecting data on substance use and trafficking, facilitating evidence-based decision-making.”
During the event, the weight of international collaboration in addressing this issue was emphasized, as well as the support and experience received from these global organizations.
This new step demonstrates the island’s commitment and capacity to act effectively against this global evil that afflicts us.
