“We remember his energetic anti-imperialist denunciations at the UN and OAS, his loyalty to the Revolution and Fidel, his Cuban identity, and his constant teaching of Revolutionary Diplomacy to generations,” Rodriguez stated on the social network X.
Raul Roa (1907-1982) was the face of the nascent Cuban Revolution before numerous forums and international organizations, such as the United Nations.
Roa served from 1959 to 1976 as the head of diplomacy for the largest of the Antilles and is considered a fundamental pillar who established the guidelines by which the foreign policy of that Caribbean country is currently governed.
He died on July 6, 1982, at the age of 73. After learning of his passing, thousands of people paid tribute to him in the Aula Magna of the University of Havana, a tribute that included the honor guard of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.
