The Supreme Electoral Tribunal warned, in an official statement, the Bolivian citizens and the international community about these actions, which seek to discredit, delegitimize, and intimidate the institution and its highest authorities, the statement warns.

This state body affirms that this escalation aims at hindering the organization of the general elections, scheduled for August 17, 2025.

“These attacks consist of unfounded accusations, media disinformation campaigns, and veiled threats against the integrity of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal members,” the statement released on its official channels.

The Supreme Electoral Tribunal warned that “the Plurinational Electoral Body is an independent and autonomous institution, with equal rank as other state bodies, under the law.”

Last week, Government Minister Roberto Rios dismissed as false the content of a supposed Argentine media outlet, which reported an alleged bribe of a Supreme Electoral Tribunal member to exclude former President Evo Morales from next August’s elections.
