Marco Papacci, president of the Italy-Cuba Friendship Association (ANAIC), told Prensa Latina that Hernandez, who is currently the national coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), was received at the city hall of that city, capital of the Lombardy region.

The lawmaker and a member of the Cuban Council of State, along with Papacci and former ANAIC president Irma Dioli, held a meeting with Councilman Paolo Festa, who reaffirmed support for the island and interest in increasing cooperation.

This meeting was followed by an event at the local headquarters of the Italian General Confederation of Laborers (CGIL), in which members of several political and social forces, officials from the Cuban Consulate General in Milan, and representatives of the Cuban community attended.
At both events, Gerardo Hernandez, one of the five Cuban heroes who served long sentences in US prisons for defending their country, addressed the current situation on the island, whose people maintain a staunch defense of their revolutionary process in the face of increasing pressure from the United States.

The serious consequences of the US economic, commercial, and financial blockade, and Cuba’s inclusion in Washington’s State Sponsors of Terrorism (SSOT) list, complemented by a recent memorandum reinforcing these measures signed by President Donald Trump on June 30, were discussed. At the end of his visit to Italy, the Cuban hero met with members of the Milan circle of ANAIC, where representatives from regional institutions emphasized their commitment to increasing their efforts to support the Cuban people and their Revolution, participated.
