The head of State made the statement in a congratulatory letter addressed to the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Dialogue among Civilizations, which opened in Beijing.
Xi affirmed that China will work with other countries to uphold equality, mutual learning, dialogue, and inclusion among civilizations, and will implement the Global Civilization Initiative, in an effort to provide new impetus for the advancement of civilizations and the promotion of global peace and development.
The world is, by nature, a place of diverse civilizations. History has shown us that exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations are essential for their flourishing and human progress, the president noted.
The Chinese president also expressed his hope that the meeting participants will engage in in-depth exchanges to build consensus and contribute their wisdom and strength to the goal of promoting understanding and friendship among peoples and achieving harmonious coexistence among civilizations.
Under the theme “Safeguarding the Diversity of Human Civilizations for World Peace and Development,” the two-day meeting is co-sponsored by the Publicity and International Affairs Departments of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.
