Cuban authorities welcome World Population Day

Havana, July 11 (Prensa Latina) Cuban authorities welcomed World Population Day today, upon which Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez reiterated on social media the island's commitment to social protection policies, attention to families and the aging population, the commitment to sustainable development and gender equality, as well as the guarantee of the right to health for all.

For his part, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero stated that “Cuba prioritizes addressing demographic dynamics, aware that people are the country’s main resource for achieving its economic and social goals.”

World Population Day has been celebrated annually since July 11, 1990, recognized that same year by the United Nations General Assembly.

Its main objective is to raise awareness of all current issues affecting the population, especially those related to the growth and development of communities.
