Wang affirmed that China will maintain an “objective and fair” position regarding the border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia, and expressed his hope that both nations will work to resolve the issue through friendly dialogue.
His statements came after a meeting with Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa, held on Thursday within the framework of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Malaysia.
Tensions between Cambodia and Thailand sparked on May 28 after an armed clash on the border, in which a Cambodian soldier was killed.
Both nations continue negotiations to resolve the conflict peacefully, but uncertainty remains surrounding the issue.
