“The United States’ obsession to coercion and intimidation has attacked a sovereign nation determined to exercise its right to self-determination and preserve its independence and dignity,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaeil said on the social media platform X.

He also stated that the new sanctions are an extension of the criminal blockade, calling them inhumane measures that violate the fundamental principles of international law and the human rights of the island’s people.

Baqaeil also stressed that these measures “will never affect the determination of the Cuban people or their leaders” in the face of the authoritarian arbitrariness of imperialism.

“After decades of illegal sanctions imposed by the United States, Iran stands in full solidarity with the people and government of Cuba and wishes them continued strength and resilience,” he added.
