Diaz-Canel highlights strength of ties between Cuba and China

Havana, July 18 (Prensa Latina) President Miguel Diaz-Canel affirmed that the political parties, governments, and peoples of Cuba and China maintain strong ties upon receiving Attorney General Ying Yong, who arrives in Havana with the goal of strengthening institutional work between the prosecutors' offices of the two nations.

Diaz-Canel commented that Yong’s visit is “an expression of the relevant relations our prosecutors’ offices have and a continuation of the excellent ties between our countries, which are special, trustworthy, and strategic.”

The article published by the newspapers Granma and Juventud Rebelde highlights that the Cuban head of state considers the bilateral ties, promoted by their leaders and bolstered by the ability to overcome vicissitudes and challenges, to be historic.

At the same time, Diaz-Canel considers the consensus he has reached with Chinese President Xi Jinping to be significant.

The texts also note that Cuba and China have identified the main areas of collaboration, including food production, energy, and cybersecurity.

In this regard, Diaz-Canel stated that, as part of the study of cooperation options, “a significant comprehensive emergency aid package from China to Cuba was finalized,” for which he expressed his gratitude.

For his part, Ying Yong also “thanked the Cuban President for the reception, which he described as a great honor” and affirmed that “his visit reciprocates the stay in China last year of Yamila Penna Ojeda,” Attorney General of the Republic of Cuba.

At the meeting the day before at the Convention Center, “Chinese support for Cuba’s fight against the United States government’s economic blockade and the island’s inclusion on the list of State Sponsors of Terrorism, drawn up by the White House, were reaffirmed.

Likewise, “Cuban support for the one-China principle and condemnation of interference in the internal affairs of our sister country.”
