In Nicaragua we are all Daniel, says co-president

Managua, July 20 (Prensa Latina) Here we are all Daniel, affirmed Nicaraguan co-president Daniel Ortega, who emphasized the principle and commitment that in this Central American nation, no one sells out or surrenders.

During a ceremony last night marking the 46th anniversary of the triumph of the Sandinista People’s Revolution, the president remembered the era of the US invasion led by American filibuster William Walker and how Nicaraguans fought to destroy the Yankee oppressor.

Before thousands of compatriots and representatives of friendly countries gathered in Plaza la Fe in Nicaragua, Ortega stated that this country has an “incredible history” and Nicaraguans should be proud of their indigenous roots.

“We all have indigenous blood, some more, some less, and we have to be proud of that indigenous blood,” he emphasized.

In his speech, the Sandinista leader highlighted the Revolution’s achievements in recent years, while mentioning investments in housing, hospitals, and roads; actions that drive the country’s economic and social development and are linked to the fight of poverty.

Ortega told the youth that there is peace in Nicaragua, but called for vigilance because, he said, the enemy is relentless in preparing actions to inflict pain on Nicaraguan families.

“That is why we must always continue with all the tasks we must do without neglecting revolutionary vigilance, so that there is no room for terrorists, traitors, or sellouts,” he stated.
