In Argentina fuel price hikes again

Buenos Aires, July 20 (Prensa Latina) On Friendship Day, YPF gave Argentines a heavy gift: it raised fuel prices by 2.6 percent without waiting until the end of the month, and is already up six points in July.

The increases continue unabated: rent, electricity, gas, water, transportation, and this morning, starting at midnight, all gasoline costs more.

The state-owned oil company made an average price adjustment of 2.6 percent across the country.

The television channel Cronica highlighted with exclamation points that rates for basic services have risen 600 percent in the last year and a half, according to the latest surveys.

This contradicts President Javier Milei, his executive team, and the financial and consulting firms that support them, who claim that the inflation they claim is substantially decreasing.

In a statement, YPF claims that “this update responds to the company’s ongoing monitoring of the main variables that impact production costs, especially fluctuations in crude oil prices.”

In line with its new dynamic pricing policy, the company states that it “will continue monitoring sales at its stations, which will allow for additional micro-adjustments to adjust prices to supply and demand, time zones, and regions of the country.” jdt/oda/mh
