Istanbul to host Russia-Ukraine talks again

Moscow, Jul 22 (Prensa Latina) Ciragan Palace in Istanbul, Turkiye, will once again host a likely new round of talks between Russia and Ukraine, Sputnik reported on Tuesday.

“A space for journalists is planned in the garden of Ciragan Palace, where the meeting will take place. Access will be possible on the day of the meeting from 08:00 hours (Istanbul time), and two different rooms will be available for delegations to hold press briefings,” the release stresses.

The news agency announced in Moscow on Monday that the new round of negotiations between Russian and Ukrainian delegates would take place on July 24-25.

Russia and Ukraine resumed direct talks in Istanbul, Turkiye, on May 16, for the first time in more than three years.

At that first meeting, the two sides agreed to a massive prisoner swap under the 1,000-for-1,000 formula, which was completed in three successive rounds on May 23-25.

The two countries held the second round of talks on June 2, in which they exchanged their terms of reference for a ceasefire with a view to a sustainable peace agreement.

Russia also announced that it would hand over to Ukraine the bodies of 6,060 deceased soldiers, which was completed by June 16.
