Municipal officials report cases of S status beneficiaries who refuse to share accommodations with other refugees and display attitudes similar to tourists in hotels.
The mayor of the city of Wigoltingen, Franky Burkhardt, pointed out particular difficulties with this population.
They express unrealistic expectations and resistance to integration, unlike other migrant groups, the magistrate noted.
For its part, the Association of Swiss Municipalities is demanding a review of the special status granted to Ukrainians, which could give them the right to permanent residency after five years.
Official data indicate that more than 69,000 Ukrainians currently enjoy this protection, extended until March 2026 by the federal government.
