The artist will compete with the song “Guaguanco,” a piece she wrote and is musically directed by Rodrigo Sosa (Grand Prize Cubadisco 2025), with arrangements by this Argentine producer and Angel Toirac, the Cuban Music Institute reported on its Facebook page.

The song mixes Cuban traditions with elements of the singer’s personal history, whose work is characterized by the fusion of traditional Cuban genres with contemporary influences, while highlighting her wide vocal range.

“Intervision 2025” will bring together representatives from more than 20 nations, with special presence from member nations and associate countries of the BRICS group, from Latin America, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

Zulema Iglesias, who has released six albums, including “Solo tu,” nominated for the 2024 Cubadisco Award, has represented Cuba at international festivals and tours in Spain, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Mexico.

In the latter nation, she participated in the Mayan Culture Festival on Isla Mujeres and in the reopening of the Benny More Cultural Center in Mexico City.

The singer from Santiago de Cuba has collaborated with Cuban and international artists, including National Music Prize winners Frank Fernandez, Beatriz Marquez, and Pancho Amat.
