UN mobilizes teams to provide aid in Gaza

United Nations, Jul 28 (Prensa Latina) The United Nations (UN) confirmed that its agencies are mobilizing their relief teams to provide aid to the population of Gaza and demanded a definitive cease-fire from Israel.

According to official data, more than 59,700 Palestinians have been killed in the Strip since the beginning of the Israeli aggression in October 2023, while another 144,000 have been wounded, in addition to more than 10,000 missing under the rubble.

In recent weeks, pressure has increased on Benjamin Netanyahu’s government to reach a new truce that would lead to the end of the conflict, in view of the destruction caused and the large number of deaths caused by the lack of food in Gaza, most of them children.

Faced with the wave of condemnation, Israel announced on the 26th of this month a daily “tactical pause” to allow the entry of urgent aid.

The UN welcomed that measure, but remembered that it is not enough.

“We are in contact with our teams on the ground, who will do everything possible to reach as many people as possible,” said UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Tom Fletcher.
