Mexico’s Government strengthens security in northern Sinaloa state

Mexico City, July 28 (Prensa Latina) The Mexican government's commitment to strengthening security in Sinaloa remains evident following the arrival of 90 members of the Army's Special Forces Corps in that northern state.

This force joins the Special Forces and Paratrooper Rifle units included last week into the operational deployment of the Ninth Military Zone in that state, which is comprised of personnel from the Army, Air Force, and National Guard.

Through coordinated actions, we will contribute to the preservation of order and public peace for the benefit of the people of Sinaloa, President Claudia Sheinbaum emphasized when addressing the situation in Sinaloa state at her regular press conference.

She added that the Security Cabinet authorities are doing it all every day to reduce violence in that state: “We’re working and we’re going to pacify Sinaloa. That will be the case, because we work every day, and when there is honesty, strategy, and work, there are results,” she explained.

Since last year, there has been an increase in violence in the state, attributed to the conflict between factions following the July transfer to the United States (without the participation of the Mexican government) of drug trafficker Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, co-founder of the Sinaloa cartel.

“It is important how this happened and the assessment of the intervention of agencies or institutions of the United States government a year ago to provoke what has happened this year,” the dignitary stated, referring again to the case.

Sheinbaum emphasized her country’s willingness to collaborate and coordinate with the US on security matters, but without subordination or interference, and reiterated the importance of the northern territory addressing the causes of drug use there.
