In an official statement, the Foreign Ministry stressed that the historic meeting took place in an atmosphere of mutual understanding, reciprocal respect and shared will to strengthen bilateral ties, in full accordance with the principles of Syrian sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The head of the Kremlin reaffirmed Moscow’s firm stance against all forms of foreign intervention, in particular the destabilizing actions of the Israeli regime, while expressing Russia’s commitment to the reconstruction and stabilization efforts in the Arab country.
For his part, Foreign Minister Al-Shaibani stressed Syria’s readiness to consolidate a strategic partnership with Russia on new bases, which would meet the aspirations of the Syrian people and open prospects for a more balanced and deeper cooperation.
During the talks, the domestic challenges facing Syria today were also addressed, including the need to overcome the political and structural aftermath inherited from previous stages, for the sake of consolidating a strong, sovereign and inclusive state.
