Adnan Abu Hasna, spokesperson for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), told Al Jazeera television that the humanitarian crisis in Gaza has reached unprecedented levels.

The UNRWA official warned, “The real solution begins with a ceasefire, as this humanitarian catastrophe cannot be addressed while the war continues.”

He criticized that hundreds of trucks laden with aid should enter the coastal enclave every day, but security obstacles and Israeli measures prevent it.

Abu Hasna demanded that the country provide safe passage for vehicles to mitigate the humanitarian crisis in the Strip, where more than 60,000 Palestinians have died due to the aggression since October 2023.

He also warned of the destruction or closure of the territory’s desalination plants due to a shortage of fuel, a situation that has led to widespread contamination of water sources and the spread of diseases.
