Of these murders, injuries, and kidnappings, there were 628 cases of rape, Binuh stated, quoted by the online newspaper Le Facteur Haiti.
The international organization affirms that these abuses are the result of violence orchestrated by armed bandits, mainly in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince.
As of June 30, 1.3 million people were displaced throughout the country, Binuh explined, and added that 64% of the killed ones or injured happened during anti-gang operations, more than a third of them in attacks involving explosive drones.
Abuses by criminal groups alone caused more than 24% of the deaths and injuries, and 15% of the victims were ordinary citizens, not affiliated with any gang, and were killed or injured while on the street or in their homes.
Meanwhile, 12% of the deaths or injuries were caused by vigilante groups or members of the public affiliated with the Bwa Kalé movement, who attacked suspected gang members or people suspected of collaborating with them.
The international organization warned of “cases of sexual slavery, sexual exploitation, and child trafficking and exploitation.”
