Cuba joins experts at prestigious herbal medicine workshop in India

New Delhi, August 6 (Prensa Latina) India is hosting a prestigious World Health Organization (WHO) workshop on international regulatory cooperation for herbal medicines, which will feature the participation of experts from Cuba, among other countries.

The workshop serves as a platform for international cooperation and technical exchange, fostering collaboration, improving safety and efficacy mechanisms, supporting regulatory convergence, and the strengthening of traditional medicine systems globally, according to the Ministry of Ayush.

With the participation of regulatory authorities and experts from all continents, this international workshop, which aims to contribute to strengthening the regulatory capacity for herbal medicines, will discuss safety, regulation, efficacy, and intended use of herbal medicines.

There will be sessions on preclinical research, regulatory frameworks, and safety case studies, including a discussion on ashwagandha (Withania somnifera).

According to the Indian Ministry, participants will profit from practical training in herbal medicine identification, heavy metal analysis, and chemoprofiling.

This workshop, which will showcase the Ayush Suraksha Program, aimed at strengthening safety monitoring of traditional medicines, will delve deeper into India’s holistic healthcare ecosystem.

Therefore, delegates will visit centers such as the National Institute of Unani Medicine in Ghaziabad and the All India Institute of Ayurveda in New Delhi.

The workshop is expected to significantly contribute to the harmonization of global standards and the promotion of the safe and effective integration of traditional medicine into public health systems, the Ministry of Ayurveda noted.
