Leibner added that the Israeli government’s hope is for a third country to receive the displaced Gazans: “It’s not just bombings. There is systematic demolition of homes and basic infrastructure, indiscriminate shooting, and an almost total blockade that prevents access to water, food, and medicine. “All of this points to the same goal: making Gaza unlivable,” he said.

The academic, who teaches Middle Eastern history at Tel Aviv University, warned about the silencing of these actions under the guise of the “fight against terrorism.”

He emphasized that the numbers speak for themselves: “We’re talking about 60,000 people dead, with names, surnames, registration details, and burial sites. In addition, there are between 10,000 and 15,000 missing, their bodies still under the rubble,” he said.

“They don’t die just from bombs. They die from the flu, from lack of antibiotics, from infections. Because there are no hospitals, no doctors, no medicine. That brings the total death toll to nearly 100,000 since October of last year,” he stated.
